(posting this a bit late, we celebrated back in June)
Ever since Ashton's birthday in March Owen had been waiting (not so patiently) for his birthday. He wanted to be 5 so bad. Having an older brother can be hard sometimes, always having someone be just a bit faster, stronger and bigger. It also can be an awesome thing, having someone to teach you, play with you and guide you. But I know Owen loves having an older brother to look after him. Since I have been so sick this pregnancy, unfortunately, Owen did not get the fun birthday party he was hoping for. I had every intention of having some boys over for a pool party but never ended up following through. This is what is so great about Owen he mentioned it many times but did not get upset when it did not happen. We did have a little family get together on his actual birthday, so he at least got cupcakes!
Owen, It is hard to believe you have been in our lives for five whole years. Five amazing, fun filled years. You are so full of personality. You melt every bodies heart, there is just something special about you. You have an old soul and a kind heart. You are always conscious about others feelings and doing the right thing. Like, you always get your own bike helmet on without asking, you always have you like jacket on around water, and are always willing to help clean up, or cook dinner. You also have a great imagination. Your brother and sister could sit in front of the TV for hours if I let them, but not you. You will get up after a short time and start playing with your bat cave, or cars. You love superheros and dressing up to play bad guys good guys and other games with your brother. Batman is your favorite of all. You also love to wrestle and have dance parties. You are getting so smart. You are always asking questions about how to spell words and are getting really good at drawing and coloring. You love to draw stick people, cars, and parks right now. You are still Mr. opinionated when it comes to you clothing. You love to pick your outfit out your self and you despise anything that has a button. "Basketball shorts" is all you like to wear. And tennis shoes. You still love your tennis shoes. "Look at my shoes", was one of you first and most spoken sentences. And years later you are still proud of your favorite shoes. This is probably all because you love basketball so much. You got a hoop for the driveway this year and you are out there every day with dad and Ashton playing. You are a natural. You make shots that shock me, even in the tall hoop. And you can still dribble like a pro. You are still doing gymnastic s and having a blast. I love watching you grow and mature into a little man. I love hearing you laugh and am so glad you will still snuggle with me (even if it is shorter than I would like!) One very cherished time for me is the mornings. You wake up happy and you shyly sneak around the corner to tell me good morning and give me a nice long hug. It is a perfect start to every day. I can not believe you will be starting kindergarten so soon. I know you will do amazing but I already miss you just thinking about it. I love you to pieces. Happy Fifth Birthday Owee Mikes.
